Is there a single path to political and social modernization? Is modernization the same thing as economic development? Have the Western countries established the criteria of “modernity” or are there other paths to modernization? Might there be a “Hindu model” of modernization or an “Islamic model?” Are McDonald’s restaurants an indispensable artifact of modernization? What, exactly, is “modernization?”

If you believe that there are many paths to modernization, explain why in the Many Paths forum; if you believe that modernization necessarily means Westernization, explain why in the Single Path forum.
